Justin Timberlake has come a long way since his days in the Mickey Mouse Club. His N'sync days seem eons ago and he just keeps evolving as an artist and a businessman. One thing's for sure, Justin's style has definitely changed for the better. He took it to the next level when he co-founded the clothing line, William Rast, with childhood friend Trace Ayala. Before we dissect Justin's fashion brand in a later post, let's just observe his everyday style.
Look #1: Work Attire
This is a great and trendy look for work. Justin knows the importance of layering and usually dresses in 3 key pieces. In this case, he's wearing a basic white collared shirt, v-neck sweater and tie, then trends it up with a leather jacket and hat. For the replica, I chose a leather jacket with the same collar as Justin's. However, I found another very trendy leather jacket for only $30. That's a $520 savings if you go with the Toxic Hazard Crest Jacket! You may want to consider getting a few of these outfits for work. It's chic, it's hot, it's manly and it's a trendy look. It's great to wear in the office when they're blasting the A/C. (And you know how they can never get the temperature right.) With this look, it'll give you the confidence to get that promotion you're deserve.
Look#2: Semi Casual
This is a really versatile look. Justin's got the sport coat, the v-neck sweater layered on top of a t-shirt (you see the pattern of 3's?), paired with jeans. The sport coat makes this style a little dressier, while the jeans gives it a more casual feel, making this outfit appropriate for many occasions. The trendy plastic glasses and hat give this a more artistic San Francisco flair and the scarf adds a touch of European. Not that we don't wear scarves in America, but it was definitely the Europeans that rocked the scarf as a necessity. You can get a trendy pair of glasses at Tilly's with no prescription in them. Or if you prefer to just wear sunglasses with the outfit, go for something that a little more transparent and with a funky shape.
Justin is really good at mixing the casual with the dressy. In this case, he's wearing a wide striped collared shirt with a checkered tie, a cool grey blue leather jacket with grey jeans and then totally toning the whole look down with a pair of distressed and beat up brown work boots. Great daytime look, great evening with friends look and all around comfortable style.
Look#4: Semi Casual, Going Out
This is perhaps the easiest and most effective look for going out in. Here Justin is sporting a black t-shirt, jeans, a vest and accessorizing with 3 necklaces and a watch. It doesn't get much easier or cheaper than that. For the replica, I chose Justin Timberlake's William Rast jeans. They have a great wash, they're comfortable and have flattering cuts to them. The jeans are a little on the pricey side, but of course you can always use your own favorite pair of jeans for this look. Remember to pick a chunkier rosary and layer thinner necklaces on top so the rosary still stands out. I love this simple look for an evening at a club, bar or lounge.
Zac Efron is the younger version of a Brad Pitt, a Tom Cruise...a hunky hunk hunk! All girls want a piece of him and guys may want to dress more like him. Zac's style is preppy, casual, comfortable and a lot trendier than most guy friends I know. So with a little help from me, you'll be sure to get the ladies flockin too.
Zac Efron Look #1
I love this look. It's simple, it's great for daytime, evening, or even work (if you can rock the jeans for casual Friday). I love the crispness of the white shirt, white belt and stark white shoes. The blend of the gray vest, and then the contrast with the dark blue jeans. I know Zac has a dark burgundy tie on, but I thought for summer, it would be great to pop the whole outfit with a bold pink and blue wide striped tie. Gorge!
Zac Efron Look #2
This guy really knows the art of layering. Here, Zac is sporting a wide pin stripe white collared shirt, with a black vest, a horizontal striped brown and gold tie (love the mix of subtle patterns), skinny blue jeans, and a quilted leather jacket with a brown wool collar. Lots of stuff going on, but still very clean and well thought out. What I love about this look is that he's wearing all the "staples". You can use any of these pieces to formulate a million different combinations in your closet, but still throw it all together for a very polished look. Trendy, but definitely timeless.
Zac Efron Look #3
This is a great outfit for a weekend daytime look when the weather is just a little windy. Again, very simple pieces paired together. He accessorizes with a simple scarf, and the high tops are very trendy. For my replica, I choose to go with a v-neck tee with a little graphic design for more interest. A lightweight brown scarf, which is perfect for cooler days or nights. I love the jacket because it's casual, but looks really hot on guys, and you can pair it with all of your more casual outfits to complete the look. As for the high tops, I found white basic ones that Zac is wearing, but you can also go with a blue sole to give it a little splash of color. Color always spices up any plain ole outfit! All in all, the look is simple clean and well packaged...and what a pretty package he is!
I can't tell you how many guy friends I've helped in this year alone. With my fashion obsession and my Asian gene to find the cheapest deals, I can spice up your wardrobe on any budget. If you're thinking to yourself, "I want to reinvent my look, but the recession has been kicking my ass", here are a few suggestions to kick start you into a very trendy guy:
Look #1: Bold Colors
I love this look because it colorful and it's now. I've been writing about how colors are hot for girls, and it's really no different for men. If you have been shy about breaking out that pink shirt for quite some time now, don't be. When you're doing colors, chose ones that are direct opposites that compliment each other. For example, blue and yellows are great. Electric dark blue and neon yellow are even better. Wear the blue collared shirt completely unbuttoned or unbuttoned about 3-4 buttons from the top. Layer it on top of the tee. The graphic t-shirt gives you a little more edge and the small white scarf with yellow and black detail pull it all together. When accessorizing, go with a chunky brown leather watch or any other leather cuff.
Look#2: Fresh & Clean
This look is fresh and clean for summer. I added this look only because most guys I know would stop at the the shirt and shorts. Try layering on a cardigan for functionality as well as a touch of trendiness. A cardigan is just a simple way for a guy to show that "yes, I too, know what I'm doing". Accessorize with a bead and rope bracelet and you have yourself a complete outfit.
Look #3: Pattern Mixing
This look is similar to look #1. The only thing different here is the playfulness of pattern. Don't be afraid to layer it on. Fashion for the girls is all about mixing lots of patterns and guys shouldn't be afraid to do the same. Here, I have a graphic tee with a plaid shirt. I would add a gray/black plaid scarf on top for more interest. Then accessorize with a leather band, and add a straw stripe fedora hat for more texture. This look is great for the daytime or hanging out a lounge with your friends.
Look #4: Black & White
If you're not a crazy colors guy or confident about mixing patterns, you can still rock out in plain black and white. As I mentioned before, don't stop at just the t-shirt and jeans. Layer on a vest. Add a small punch of color in with this plaid fringe blue scarf, black leather bracelet with small blue detail, and throw on some dog tags for a little more interest. It's trendy, laid back, and the vest is multifunctional so you get more bang for your buck.
Let me start off my saying....wow....Johnny Depp is like a dirty, hot, sexy man! It truly does take a very special and unique guy to pull off his look. From the dirty hair to the glasses, and everything in between, Johnny Depp is like a sweet guy with a bad boy look. We drool....we drool. His look is completely rebellious and follows little to no rules. The only thing you MUST HAVE is attitude. Johnny is always playing quirky roles and I have no idea why a dirty pirate or willy wonka can be such a turn on. Do you remember him in Edward Scissorhands? OMG....he was so adorable yet seductive and it was so weird and wrong. Even the neighborhood ladies in that movie couldn't get enough. And honestly, when I go to Disneyland, the only reason why Pirates of the Caribbean is my favorite ride now is because, you guessed it, Captain Jack Sparrow is hiding in every corner. (By the way, my friend rode with Johnny on that ride when they reopened it and she said he was the coolest guy ever. If I was alone in that boat with him, omg, it would have been on...that is if I didn't pass out first.)
Anyway, back to the situation at hand. If you are wanting to dress like him, I'm here to break it down for ya.
Let me start off by saying, I don't even like long hair on guys. But with him, it's almost required. He almost looks too much like a little boy when he has short hair or a shaved head. To achieve his look, grow out your hair and tell your hairdresser you want long layers. It must be clean and fall nicely though! Although his hair does look effortless for the most part, I've seen guys with long hair and it looks way gross. Maybe it's him, but I still manage to want to play with his hair. So guys, you should still brush you hair and keep it neat and smelling good. As I've suggested before, hair wax is a great product to give you a more relaxed yet tame hairstyle. Hard gel is absolutely unnecessary here. Basically, after you shower, apply a small amount of hair wax or hair serum (to control the frizz) and run it through your hair with your fingers.
Grungy Grungy Grungy. Even though Johnny's look doesn't appear to have much thought to it, I believe he is well aware of fashion and how it works. He uses a lot of layering and accessories to achieve the full on grungy look. Vintage tees or plain white tees, layered with a flannel or plaid shirt and baggy jeans. This look is so easy and comfortable to sport. His use of accessories is really what makes the outfit. Unlike David Beckham, he doesn't layer his tshirts. For Johnny's formal look, you will see him wear a sports coat with a casual striped polo inside. Or a tuxedo with quirky glasses. Always add a different element when replicating his look.
I love this man, did I say that already? He layers on the accessories like crazy. The more necklaces, bracelets and rings, the better. Go for leather, dog tags, and silver jewelry. Along with jewelry, he is big on fedora hats and glasses, adding that extra element to his style. For Johnny's glasses, go for plastic wide rimmed round frames. If you're uncomfortable with the exact replica of his glasses, finding plastic frame glasses that better suits your face would equally do the trick.
So in conclusion, I love Johnny Depp. A friend and guest blogger of mine, Matt Hosely recently put together a video that I can appreciate. I hope you guys enjoy it!
