Organic wear Natural Origin Mascara

Ok you guys. A long time ago I did a post on organic makeup from Physician's Formula. It's "the thing to do" these days, as people are becoming more conscious about what their beauty products are made of. So, I ran out and bought the Physician's Formula Organic Wear Origin Mascara on special at CVS Pharmacy. You would buy the mascara for $9.95 but then get a $9.95 mail in rebate. Which I have yet to fill out, but essentially it costs nothing to try, so I did. I'm sure you wanna know if this organic mascara is actually better and if it does what it says. Let's break it down:

The description on the physiciansformula.com says:

  • Revolutionary 100% Natural Origin formula contains the purest ingredients and provides 5x Lash Boosting for lash length, volume & definition naturally.

  • 100% Recyclable Eco-Brush defines each lash with ultra-soft plastic bristles.
  • 100% Free of Harsh Chemicals, Synthetic Preservatives, Parabens, Clumping, Smudging, Flaking, Fibers & Dyes.

Ok, so as far as volume and natural definition: Check. I love the volume this mascara gives on my lashes. And that's hard for me because I'm Asian and don't have the long thick lashes like other girls. So I need all the help I can get! This mascara is great because there's no clumping no matter how many times you go over your lashes with the brush. I can also see it extend the length of my lashes without looking like I have a grip of mascara on. As far as smudging...well, when I put it on and forget about it throughout the day, I rub my eyes and notice a lot of it on my fingers. It rubs off pretty easily though. Whenever I rub my eyes, I just have to remember to wipe off the bottom of my eyes to wipe away any smudges. This happens with a lot of mascara's that I've tried. So it doesn't really bother me that much.

As far as the brush goes, I really like it. It feels more sanitary to me. It's like a rubber/plastic recycled synthetic material and I like it better than the hairy ones. In fact, I think it is one of the reasons why it goes on so smooth and doesn't clump. And it definitely feels like it keeps moist and doesn't dry up as quick.

My biggest beef with this mascara? Umm, well to put it bluntly: it smells like poop. I am so for serious. I mean, I put it on and it smells like poop all day on my face. Well, maybe not poop, but it's like an organic, grainy, granola, wheat type of smell and it's not good. So if they can come out with an unscented version, this mascara would rock. But since I am very sensitive to smell, it gets really annoying. The first time I used it, I could not figure out where the crazy smell was coming from! No ones eyes should stink and we'd like to keep it that way.

So, if you're not too sensitive to smell and you're totally into makeup that is eco-conscious, this is the product to use. I would start out going to Walgreens or CVS to see if they have the special rebate so you can try it for free (don't forget to fill out the rebate like I did). Or, I've seen it on a rare occasion on ebay for $4.50. It's worth a try. Don't pay more than $9.95 though.

2009 Trendy Board Shorts and Swimming Trunks For Men

So guy fashion never really gets too funky or changes that much. Especially when it comes to swimming trunks. Anything where a strong wave could cause you to offend a crowd (ie., short shorts, speedos, etc.) can only be good if you have an amazing body. Otherwise, prepared to receive looks and giggles. Not that you should care about what other people think, but aren't they uncomfortable? Honestly, I feel like the Europeans can get away with this much better than the Americans. We're just too judgmental and the men here aren't as confident with their sexuality. So...board shorts it is. But let's say you've dug into your dresser and the only pair of board shorts you could find were too big or too dingy and you're ready for a new pair. Well, that's where I come in. Keeping with the 2009 trend, choose something a little more colorful or something with some pattern. It doesn't have to be off the wall funky 80s pattern if you don't want to go that far. If you want it to be timeless (let's face it, guys don't go shopping as often as we girls do) go with a preppy plaid or surfer flowers. It's going to be one of the few times it's perfectly acceptable for a man to sport florals. Here are my top picks for this year's trendiest swimming trunks for guys.

Preppy Plaids:
I love plaid board shorts because I think they're preppy and have enough pattern to add interest, yet also very timeless. They're especially popular this year. And if you run out of shorts for the day, you can technically put on your plaid swim trunks and still be stylish. A+ for plaid!

Hibiscus Flowers
Even though hibiscuses are flowers, they're pretty masculine. It's very surfer-ish, and will always be stylish for guys on the beach or poolside. It's also pretty timeless and fun.

Ultra Trendy 80's inspired
So if you've noticed, the 80s are back and they're going on strong. Pop culture is at it's peak and if you're the kind of guy that can pull off the 80s look, go for it! But let it be known that a few years from now, when you look back, you may do the "what was I thinking???" But who cares right?! When they're hot, they're hot! Think neon colors, retro Kanye West videos patterns and lasers and you should be on the money. If you need some help figuring it out. Here are my picks:

Board Shorts to Stay Away From!!
Paisleys, sailboats, pastel patchwork, or and island scenery, are no no double no's! Yuck yuck yuck! Reminds me of old people's swim trunks and honestly, only pervs wear paisleys. It's a little known fact. So please, I do not want to stare at your crotch to figure out what island you're wearing, and keep the sailboats for the kids. And the one with naked cartoon girls on it -- fit for a tool. If you're a tool, get these! If not, please keep it classy. We don't want to think that the only girls you can get near your crotch are cartoons. And the American Flag?.....really? Here are some examples to stay away from:

Replicate Paris Hilton’s Dominatrix/Futuristic Swimsuit Look

Paris Hilton Dominatrix / Futuristic Robot Look

This is hot...or huge....I meann...woah. This dominatrix/futuristic swimsuit ensemble is something fierce. I have been spending hours trying to replicate it and there's honestly nothing really like it right now. In order to get the same affect as the swimsuit top, I would try and find something as strappy or lacey as you can get it, or something ultra sexy and dominatrix-like. Realistically, you wouldn't really want to rock that crazy strappy belt. Rather uncomfortable and can you imagine the tan lines?? Omg...

However, I totally dig these sunglasses! These Maison Martin Margiela l'Incognito sunglasses are really hot and I can imagine really keeps the sun out from all angles. Tan lines would be kind of whack, so take a cue from Kim Kardashian and don't sunbathe in them. I found some other futuristic sunglasses on ebay for super cheap. It's a great way to treat yourself to something funky and spice up any swimsuit without spending a fortune!

Trendy Hippie Headbands

Ah, the hippie headband, or as I'd like to call it, a foreheadband. If you can't beat them, join them right? I, along with many others, initially didn't really like this hippie headband trend. But since it's back and it's getting more embellished and more detailed and more fun, what the heck, it's growing on me. I particularly like the ones with the feather detail, anything with bling or the ones with the flowers on the side. It's a cute take on the usual flower tucked behind the ear look. Here are some of my favs:
